Dark side of David by Robert Swetz
Beginning of the end
With his head pounding, smell of burnt flesh, smell of gasoline and strange muffled voices it was very hard for David to comprehend where he was.
His wrists were tied and he could feel a burning pain around his wrists from whatever had been used to tie him, it had cut into his wrists.
His ribs and other parts of his body were in serious pain almost as if someone had been kicking him or he had been in a car accident.
What had happened?
Had he been in a car accident?
Where was he?
Was this a dream or a nightmare?
David had no idea where he was at this moment, only that is was dark and that he was in a confined area with faint voices in the background.
He knew he was somewhere outside because he heard the noise of gravel as if there were footsteps walking around him.
So where was he?
As the feeling of pain came across David he was trying to open his eyes, but there was serious pain when tried he to open one of his eyes and it was pitch black where he was.
The pain was unbearable and he knew one of his eyes was open slightly because he could see little beams of light coming through very small holes, but all the rest was dark.
As David started to panic he started screaming,
“Get me out of here!”
“Where am I?”
“Is anyone out there?”
David continued to hear voices and footsteps as if someone was walking on gravel around him.
The voices stopped for a moment and David started kicking and yelling some more …
“Help”, “get me out of here”
Then he really started to panic and screamed even louder as he was kicking what sounded like metal or steel, then David heard a voice,
“Shut up in there!”
David thought to himself once again, where am I?
He thought as he became weaker and weaker from yelling and kicking.
Then David finally realized that he was in the trunk of a car, and the sound of steel when he was kicking was the hood of the trunk.
As David was trying to clear his head, it was quite difficult because his face, ribs, back, legs and more had been beaten by something or someone, but who?
Who could have done this to David and why?
David was weak, hungry, thirsty and started to kick and beat the hood of the trunk again. As David started to do this he became exhausted and fainted from pain, hunger and dehydration.
